Nichole Chestnut, Instructor:
Nichole
has had extensive training in tap, jazz, lyrical, hip- hop, modern, baton, and voice.
She trained with Mary Beth Dawson of Dance Etc. in Kinston, where she was a company dancer. While she also trained with Nina Wheeler and Tomi Galaska, in Durham,
where she was a member of The Company Dancers of Durham. She also trained with
well known dancers, such as: Gus Giordano, Shelia Barker, Darren Henson, Frank Hatchet, Mia Michaels, Savion Glover and his
brother Abron Glover, the late Gregory Hines, and many more. Michelle Braxton
and the late Max Blizzard, were Nichole’s vocal coaches.
Nichole
began singing, at an early age and began dancing, when she was 4. At age 5, she
earned 2 Showstopper National Titles. Since that time, she has won national titles, including Showstoppers National Song and
Dance Champion and Star Systems National Vocal Champion. She appeared on Star
Systems National TV show, on “E” TV.
At
age 18, Nichole was awarded a full scholarship to “Success America”,
in New York City, where she trained on Broadway, in vocal
performance, dance, and acting.
In
1998, Nichole was a member of The Miss NC Scholarship Pageant dance troupe, and returned in 1999, as a guest vocalist.
In
1999, she was a singer/dancer at Paramount’s Carowinds,
“Tropicale”. Later, in Orlando,
she appeared as a back -up dancer at “Hard Rock Live” and “ House of Blues”, opening for Mandy Moore. Also, in “Showtime On the Waterfront” with Paul Anka and Universal Studios,
as a dancer for “Mardi Gras”. Nichole served as a casting assistant
for MTV’s “Real World” and “Road Rules”.
In
2000, Nichole appeared in Washington, DC, in “Salute,
A Tribute to America’s Veterans”,
with Adrian Cronauer, of “Good Morning Vietnam”. She is a regular
in this annual show, that now takes place, in Kinston. She also has performed, at Princeton’s Veterans
Day Celebration, for the past several years.
Nichole
has held a list of titles, including: Young Miss Erwin-Denim, Teen Miss Railroad Days, Teen Miss Fuquay-Varina, Miss North
Johnston, Miss Flashing Twirlette, and Fourth Runner-up Teen Miss North Carolina. She
continues to work with pageants as a judge, trainer, and contestant hair and make-up artist.
Nichole
is a graduate of North Johnston High School and Mitchell’s Hairstyling Academy, in Wilson. A self employed hairstylist and make-up artist, she works at Ultimate Raaz, in Goldsboro.
Nichole
resides, in Princeton, with her husband, Matt, and their son, Wyatt.
